Accessibility Statement
Last updated: July 27, 2026
This statement explains how we approach accessibility on BFF Compass, the standard we hold ourselves to, and how to reach us if something gets in your way.
1. Our Commitment
BFF Compass is built to help every university student find friends — including students who use assistive technology. We are working to make the website and mobile apps usable by as many people as possible, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing part of how we build, not a one-time checkbox.
2. The Standard We Aim For
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible to people with a wide range of disabilities, including visual, motor, auditory, and cognitive differences.
3. What We Do
- Keyboard access. Interactive controls — links, buttons, form fields, and the password show/hide toggles — can be reached and operated with a keyboard.
- Labels and structure. Form fields have visible labels, icon-only buttons carry descriptive labels for screen readers, and pages use headings in a logical order.
- Colour and contrast. We check text and interactive elements against WCAG AA contrast ratios, and we do not rely on colour alone to convey meaning.
- Images and media. Meaningful images include text alternatives, and decorative images are hidden from assistive technology.
- Testing. We run automated accessibility audits (Lighthouse / axe) against our pages and fix the issues they surface as part of our regular work.
4. Known Limitations
We are not perfect yet. Some areas — particularly newer interactive features and third-party embedded content — may not fully meet Level AA in every case. Where we find gaps, we prioritise fixing them. If you run into a barrier we haven't caught, please tell us; real reports help us most.
5. Feedback and Contact
If you have trouble accessing any part of BFF Compass, or you want to request information in a different format, email us at support@bffcompass.com. Please describe the problem, the page or screen where it happened, and the device or assistive technology you were using. We aim to respond within a few business days.
